Padirac Cave is not only the largest cave in Europe but also the most renowned in Quercy. However, several other breathtaking underground cathedrals are waiting to be explored: Presque Cave, Merveilles Cave, Lacave Cave, Carbonnières Cave, and La Fage Cave are all natural wonders left for us to discover.
Just a few kilometers from the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park – a UNESCO Global Geopark – Château Blanat serves as the perfect starting point for both novice and experienced cavers to explore the region’s remarkable geosites and subterranean treasures.
You can also delve into the origins of humankind at the Musée de la Chapelle-aux-Saints, which opened in 2025 near the château, on the very site where Neanderthal man was discovered.
A little farther away, in the Vézère Valley, from Lascaux to Les Eyzies, close to Sarlat, you can follow in the footsteps of our Cro-Magnon ancestors and marvel at the magnificent sites and landscapes of the Périgord Noir.
